British

I am loving the Union Jack right now. I have no idea why, I mean I know I am English - British, but I've never really felt much towards the flag. Maybe I'm just getting a bit more patriotic as I get older haha.
But yeah, I have a:
Union Jack phone cover.
How British is this? Lol
Two union jack mugs

A small round union jack pillow in my car that reads "Where there is Tea, there is hope" that I got from Robert for Christmas. I want just about EVERYTHING that Past Times has to do with the union jack, and just about everything else in that shop actually. It's all wonderfully vintage and retro.
And if I had enough money I'd have bought two union jack rugs that I saw for £7.99 each in a shop. Crazy.

Ah well, are you loving on your country recently? ♥

Yoga

Today, I did many things which I wasn't supposed to do:

  • I read Black Beauty as part of my book challenge.
  • I tried Yoga.

Now, I was supposed to do some more college work but I felt like I needed to stop thinking about that for the time being and just have a day of whatever came to mind. Reading and yoga apparently heee.

So, Black Beauty. I was impressed. I'd had this misconception from when I was a child that it was a horsey story for horsey people who liked horses. Well, wrong. Obviously. But I've finally read it and I couldn't put it down. I started reading at about 10am and finished at 2pm. Lovely narration of the character and how his life unfolded and I was so glad to see a happy ending. I only wish I'd read it sooner to be honest.

Yoga! Well, myself and a friend were talking about trying it out together last night, so spurred on my that conversation I thought I would try out some yoga, just to get a feel for it and see if my body could bend in those ways (considering I'm overweight and have a belly to compensate for hehe). It turned out well, I tried three 10 minute long beginner sessions from youtube and with only a couple of things I couldn't completely do, I guess I time (and if my stomach goes away lol) I'll be able to do them completely, but despite that I was sweating and felt like I'd made some progress. Whats more, it doesn't feel like it's hard work, it's relaxing and doesn't seem as daunting as say a jog or going on an exercise bike. I think, maybe, that is the key to my losing weight. I need it to feel like an everyday part of my life in order to incorporate it. It needs to relax in me at the same time as being useful as I already have enough stress in my life, I do not need the added pressure of "Oh god, I've got to pound my heart out on an exercise bike for 20 mins" or something along those lines. After the yoga I felt ready for more, and I'm looking forward to incorporating it into my day tomorrow. I'm just hoping now that it'll work and I'll gradually get better.

So, toodle pip guys, have fun and try yoga too! Woo!

Sunday 22 May 2011

Well

After that rage yesterday, I'll share some pretty things. Namely being;

Nightdresses
Old fashioned ones, granny ones, whatever. They're lovely! And I want some, but I think it's going to come to the point where I'm going to have to make one myself (which would count towards my 21 things, hooya! lol) That's not such a bad thing though, it'll mean I'll be able to get it how I want it, hopefully.
Anyway, here's my inspiration:

Love the top of this one hehe

So yes. Nighties! Big love for them right now. Also this weird windy weather, it's kinda freaky after all this "END OF THE WORLD" rubbish lol But I love windy days, they're lovely ♥

Oh, PS: I keep coming across this section of writing in various ways
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God."

Three times, in the last two days. I'm not religious so I have no idea what it means or anything but really? It just keeps popping up. I'm probably getting all strange because of this Labyrinth book I'm reading about the crusades in France and it has so much religion in it, it's hard to breath.
Ah well.

Saturday 21 May 2011

Lets talk about...

The world ending today people...
Really? This american guy predicts (no less than 3 times) that the world is going to end and yet, after the last couple of times it didn't end, you would have thought people wouldn't take it seriously still. For the past year or so, maybe year and a half, and at least since we hit 2010, there has been an inundated amount of naff about the world ending. Isn't this a lovely thing to keep popping up at the moment. Because the economic crisis, or the state some countries are in from poverty, or the natural disasters in other countries aren't enough bad news at the moment, lets get the whole world going with "Yeah, you better watch out, the worlds going to end. You might as well give up on life now while we have a small amount of time left!"

Spewing all of this, it's just so unnecessary. Can we have some nice news please? Something heartwarming, or hopeful, perhaps about spring or where someone has helped someone else, or even where a breakthrough has happened.

OH. talking of breakthroughs. Did you know Canada has found a cure for cancer? Yep. The one shred of good news and there isn't much coverage on it. Why? Because the pharacutical companies won't fund it because if they do they will lose literally billions because the cure isn't anything fancy, it's just a pill to boost something your body already naturally produces. So brilliant eh? Just because companies will lose money, millions of people will still die of this completely horrid disease.

Urgh, this world....I'm completely disgusted.

Done & Done

It puts twinkles on my walls :)
Oh hey~
So I'm getting to the end of college. We only have something like five weeks left. Stress, stress, stress!
The sun has been shining non-stop. I didn't think I'd want a storm to come so badly or for at least one rainy day, just to watch the water fall continuously and hear the sounds. We really have had sun for the whole of April....but isn't it supposed to be April showers? Hm~
I've had three books on the go, Alice in wonderland, Treasure Island, Labyrinth (by Kate Moss) and Grimm's fairy tales. Ok well that's four I guess, but the fairy tales I'm just reading when I'm bored or feel like a change.
Alice in Wonderland...What can I say other than "what the..." I mean I'd heard that it was a bit crazy but seriously? At some stages I found it a bit of a challenge to read as it was so confusing, but I trucked on. It was rather brilliant actually, in a whimsical, peculiar kind of way (well certainly, a bloke who did acid while writing it kind of way, anyway...) I found it lovely, and a trip back into an imagination of a child! So that's another crossed off my list.
I wish I could say the same about Treasure island, I'm finding it hard to reach the end as I'm just not getting into it. I keep putting it down, and trying to come back to it, but...it's just, not, that, good? That can't be the right words. But I'll see, I'm determined to finish it.
As for Labyrinth, I've just started it, I'm not really feeling the jump-y-ness in the way Kate Moss writes, that's a little bit annoying as the flow of the story is interrupted by this sudden change of narration, Other than that though, it seems like a compelling story! I shall get back on that one as I'm barely 7 chapters in.

I WANT A STORM!
-Does a dance to bring the rain!-

Toodles! ♥

Easter

Happy Easter Everyone!

Tuesday 12 April 2011

Yesterday...

It's a shame about the light reflection on the glass
Well, yesterday was the exhibition opening...:D
Unfortunately it wasn't organised well. It could have been so much more exciting and interesting but never mind. My work is now up in our town hall for a week and bidding is taking place all week. I really wonder if I'll get any bids.

'Beneath'
This is my piece, I didn't get a straight on image as this suggests, I've edited this so it looks normal again as there was a window right behind my work, not smart placing on the head tutors part but can't do much about it now. Underneath is my little bit of writing that you see along with the work. I'll paste I here hehe.

Holly Morris
Beneath
Seven Plate Collagraph Print with added textiles

How often do we think about what's beneath us? Do we see it as a disposal centre, treasure hunt, a fuel resource or something to be marvelled at? Can you honestly say that you think about this on a daily basis? I sought to try and portray what was beneath us in the form of a collagraph print which was then worked upon with textiles. With each layer and process, I could contemplate it's reality, longevity and life of our world. If we are going to carry on, on this planet, we need to acknowledge the unseen, respect it for it's power over us, and what we'd do if we didn't have it any more. This is the land and earth that feeds us. We keep abusing our world with all sorts of destructive actions, it is not enough to stop at the surface. We dig deep, deep as we can go, to seek out resources or to bury our waste.
Sooner or later the world will reject all of this.
Sooner or later we need to stop.

I hope, that through trying to portray what lies beneath us, we can see that it isn't just a chunk of rock. It is beautiful. It is powerful. It's to be cherished, for it is far wiser and alive than we'll ever be in our tiny lifetimes.

It's our future in our hands.

They muffed up the placement of words on my little square, I specifically wanted the first set of bold writing where it was so it flowed, but again that was changed without my input. I wish they wouldn't do that. It may be my first exhibition but seriously, I know how I want things...

ANYWAY apart from that lol, I'm happy, exciting, apprehensive and just thankful that my work got chosen and the chance to exhibit. It's an amazing opportunity that I didn't think I would have and words can't express how I feel about the matter.
I'll be invigilating on Saturday which I think is the last day of the exhibit, so I'll get to see what's happening and how the week has gone ☺

So, until we meet again!
Toodle-loo ♥

Lovin'

Loving this song right now.
Love it too

Friday 8 April 2011

Sun

I'm completely obsessed with this blossom tree.

It's been another beautiful day with lots of sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.
The smell of summer is in the air.
Every time I look at the blossom tree at the end of the garden, I smile warmly at nature.
Two more days until the opening night.

Can. Not. Wait.

Thursday 7 April 2011

Hi

I lost sight of my blog for a while.I don't know why. Perhaps there were other more important things happening? In some cases yes, in others, no.

I could have blogged...but I shant go on.
Flyer for the exhibition

SO! I had assessment, it went well enough, I passed and they liked my work. I didn't realise how much until last week when I got an email saying my final piece was going to be in the Your future exhibition! I mean wow...I can't even express how I feel about it other than a big ol' ball of OH MY GOSH. Hehe.
So preparations have gone along, writing an artist statement for the show, making sure my final piece is top notch, watching it being framed by our artists in residence. It looked amazing once they'd finished. I was so impressed. It's well worth the £25 for framing.
Whats more, at the show our work is availiable for auction in the dutch auction system. (I'm told this is where they write what they'll pay on a piece of paper and then put it in a box) Exciting no?

GADFINDFHKNDFLN BLIMEY!!!
-Spazz out-

-Cough- excuse me....Anyway hehe I kind of want to sell it and kind of don't. It'd be nice to have a piece of my work up on the wall in our house. But alas, I really could do with the money and as I've been advised to price it at £120 minimum I can't really let that slide by. So, thats my reasons for wanting to get a really good photograph of it.
Our building site back garden and next doors.
We need to build the fence still.
It's spring but it feels like summer, and what am I doing? sitting indoors on the pc of course. But, I have the most amazing view of this tree with masses of blossom on it. It's really lovely to just look out the window and see all of this green and white and flowers!

BLOSSOM ♥ Love it

Pub Quizzes

Leggings/Jeggings

Spring....today...yes!

All of the flowers that are finally waking up and showing their heads - Hello flowers!

Trying to think of a theme for my final major project - worried :S

Enjoying the weekeneds to the full

Making a list of which flowers we should get for when we sort out the garden

Reading with my other half in bed before we go to sleep

What are you loving on lately? ♥

Wednesday 16 March 2011

Today is a new day

Do the Robot~
Today I revamped my 21 things list. I wasn't really content with the list ever since I made it, I'm not sure if I am now, but it does feel a whole lot more right than before.

I'm steadily selling things on eBay - this pleases me. I stress about whether I've sent the items to the right place or not, even when I have a meticulous system to make sure I don't go wrong. I keep second guessing myself. But this is a good thing right? Because if I didn't care about these sorts of things I wouldn't be a very good seller.

Ah well - over and out~

Tuesday 15 March 2011

Hm...

Something I'm selling on eBay

Hm, well the past week has been a bit odd. It feels like it is was a hell of a lot longer than it has been...I uess it's been a good timeout though as I haven't really paid much attention to the internet world as we know it.

I :

Made some cake

Sent off packages of eBay things

Been to college and began a new project

Went to work

Wasn't very impressed with the post office ladies attitude

Enjoyed the spring smell

Was really ill for a while

Seemed to have gotten everything dumped on me in one go, but it's slowly ebbing away now, thank goodness.

Went to a quiz night

So yes. Also, I really want to re-write my 21 things. Am I allowed to do that? Who knows.

Tuesday 8 March 2011

My gosh...

Well I did want to start this post with "PANCAKE DAY" but...something far more strange has happened...

I've had two...TWO really bad nosebleeds today. I know right? Most people only get them like once every million years or something but twice. My mum said that if it happens again I'll have to go to the doctor, these weren't the normal 2 minutes bleeds either, the first one went on for about half an hour before it managed to stop and the second one went on for 20 minutes. A whole new epic level of bleeding man...
So yes, that was a bit distressing and I'm quite light headed and headachey now.

So after that excitement -

PANCAKE DAY

- Yes, it is the nom day of all nom. I made the pancake batter last night as it tastes a whole lot better when it's left to sit for a while and my nan recipe which has been passed down to me is still the most amazing tasting pancakes I've ever had ♥
So yummy.

Are you having pancakes right now? As we speak? In this precise moment?!
Tell me how scrummy they are! :D

(Can you tell I'm not really myself today? lol)

Monday 7 March 2011

I think...

Really awesome Tissue box cover on etsy ♥

I'm getting ill, you know the signs. Urgh, this is like the 5th time in 6 months...I usually only get one cold a year....ONE...or sometimes two but seriously, what the hell?

Le sigh. Some of my things are selling well on eBay. Yay, although I think I'll have to relist a few by the time they all end. Never mind. It still means I'll have funds to get things on eBay without eating away at my bank balance. If I keep this up, I should be able to fund my eBay addiction just by selling things I don't need any more.

I'm trying to get into habits. I've heard it takes three weeks to pick up a habit (or before something becomes a habit) So I'm currently trying to have breakfast, do exercise, make the bed every day - stuff like that.

Anyway, my head is feeling a bit heavy so I'm going to get an early night, rest and hope that this cold doesn't come out during the night.
Toodles sweety. ♥

Sunday 6 March 2011

My Neighbor Totoro

I've always loved Studio Ghibli films. It's from my days of obsessing over anime and manga. But, there's something more to the Japanese way of life that has always appealed to me, and this comes across subtly in their cartoons.
Morals.
There is usually always a lesson to be learnt in these cartoons or films. They're not simply made to slowly make their brains go blank like our utterly rubbish western culture, they show something and at the end of watching one of the films or episodes, you feel like you've learnt how to be a better person. Whether this is by soaking in the appreciatation and power of good animation or if there's been a message in the story.
Ok, so this may be me over analysing, but my goodness I love it. It's just a whole better, more intellectual child entertainment.
Anyway, I'm going on about this because I've just finished watching My Neighbor Totoro. What a wonderful film! It's so heart warming and nice! You need to watch it, even if it's not your type of thing, you'll still be smiling at the end of it.
Go watch some Ghibli!

Saturday 5 March 2011

JLo

Gosh, I'm loving her at the moment!
Plus she can act, the movies she's in are wonderful and just yay :3

Fierce!! But then there's the original...♥ ♥

Oh my...but this, om nom! I guess this is the reason why I like the JLo song. I had this little toy that you'd create a motion with and this round thing would spin along two metal tracks and play a tune, the tune was this Lambada song. I was obsessed with it. It used to make me think of an exotic dragon story ( have no idea why, that's the workings of a child's brain I guess?) But from that it's fascinated me ever since. It's only recently that's it's resurfaced in "On the Floor".
Well thank you JLo for bringing out this awesome anthem! ♥

Bleep

Such a lovely sunny day today - Spring, hurry up. Your teasing is not fair!
What are you thinking about today? :)

Thursday 3 March 2011

Exercise

Today I exercised - woo?
I plan (HUR~) to do this more often, but I feel pretty good at the moment even though I feel kinda floppy. I started out with some stretching so I'd hopefully not pull a muscle, followed by 10 minutes on the exercise bike (I'm starting small people, I haven't been on the exercise bike in years!) followed by 20 sit ups to try and sort my tummy muscles out, then 20 of those backwards leg ups, then 10 each of those side legs ups, 10 woman push ups and then that weird backwards arm thing 10 times. I have no idea of the proper names of these, obviously lol. But the fact of the matter is, I did it, and broke a sweat and  finished by some stretching on the floor :D
So if I keep this up I can begin to lose this extortionate amount of weight I put on while we were doing up this blooming house and living on take aways. Urgh

On another note, today has been really productive. I got the room cleared up, sorted out some eBay listings, sorted out some tings for charity while clearing up, hoovered the upstairs. :D
So yes, yay.
How has everyone elses day been?

Wednesday 2 March 2011

They Came!

So, do you remember me blogging about the awesome UgChug Mugs by NelsonStudio? Well, mine have turned up! And they're even better in real life! And whats more, as I was the first international customer, they gave me Puck free!! I was overwhelmed with appreciation and awesomeness!
Anyway, I basically only have the word "SQUEEEE" in my head at the moment so I'll share some pictures of these amazing mugs!

Meet Troy and Puck!

I put this one in too, even though it went wrong I find it amusing

Tuesday 1 March 2011

Gosh, that was long!

Sneaky peak and stupid expressing lol God knows why my mouth looks so...upturned? lol

Well I've just spent my evening listing items on eBay. So time consuming, in the past I've only listed a couple of things at a time but this time I've gone all out and listed 22 items! All at the starting price of 99p or less. Woohoo.
My plan is if I can sell some stuff on eBay, it'll fund what I buy off of eBay s I won't eat away at my bank funds :D In theory this is brilliant, but we all know that this could not go to plan hehe.
Anyway, I have a more exciting post  tomorrow highlighting the best part about today? Strange eh? hehe

Have a nice night everyone :) ♥

Monday 28 February 2011

So...

I passed my assessment :)
Here is my final piece. And the plate which created it!
The print

The plate
The plate is so much better looking than the piece above hehe. Even though there are a couple of splodges, I can always window mount it, it print it up again. But I like the colours in this print the most, even if I did manage to miss a couple of marks. I would mind but I wiped everything a million times each print and it was only the very last palest print that came out completely clean! hehe Anyway, overall a good enough day :)

Sunday 27 February 2011

Officially

Well I can say I've failed this 365 challenge. That's 2 days I've missed now. But I guess they're not for terrible reasons, the first was around the funeral and yesterday was because I was working so hard to try and get this assessment work done - it's tomorrow, I'm freaking out here hehe.

Anyway I'll just share some snappies which I've taken on my phone of little bits from the project. Not too exciting but who knows, they may be? My life's been consumed by this project for the past 9+ weeks so I'm just done with the whole thing hehe.

I'll keep you wondering about them for now :)
Toodles ♥

Solitude

I find myself seeking comfort in solitude lately. Don't mind me.

Kind of craving pretty things
Spending too much instead of saving
Wanting more friends but not being able to find them
Thinking a lot - too much.
Feeling like every time I'm sorting out my possessions I'm putting my affairs in order. It's beginning to creep me out slightly.

Dwelling on things that never were

Longing for things that'll never be.

Oh well, life goes on I guess.

Friday 18 February 2011

Fill in the blank Friday!

Woo - love doing these :D Head over to the little things we do to join in the fun!

1.   I am  a friend, a lover, a daughter, an only child, a student, an artist, fat & everything I want to be.

2.  The bravest thing I've ever done  pull myself partly out of depression and ring my school to go back and finish my education.

3.  I feel prettiest when  I've just got out of the shower and everything naturally falls into place. Hair, make up, clothing. It all goes very well and I've hardly had to think about it.

4.  Something that keeps me awake at night is   everything. I'm a terrible worrier

5.  My favorite meal in the entire world is   I don't have one as I like everything and try to keep an open mind about food so I'll enjoy it

6.  The way to my heart is    seeing past my outside image and genuinely wanting to know me.

7.  I would like to   be able to learn everything there is to know and actually remember it. My memory is terrible and I curse it every day!

Love letters

I've had this in my bookmarks for ages, I think I stumbled upon it ages ago and saved it. Whatever, it's really interesting to read. They're love letters from this person who wanted to be able to write love letters to anyone, strangers, family and project that love onto them. The project was to write 300 but she ended up writing 400 as she felt 300 was unsatisfactory. There is the explanation on the site. Each colour has a meaning, there's a key on there as well. They're so interesting though, each click is like finding a new treasure to behold. They're brilliant, truly.
Go explore and love it. :)

Kindle

Just have a very good video to show you today, it's rather strange and interesting considering different ways of creating something with paint. Enjoy.

Also on another note; Kindle - I want one!

Slacking, tired and meh today. Really not feeling it. Got my car scrapped though so that's a weight off my mind.
Guess that's it really, sorry.

Happy Valentines Day
everyone  :)

I made a homemade card this year with the word Love Blind embossed on some card and a splash of watercolour over the top. Unfortunately the emboss kind of went away once I water coloured it - Note to self :- watercolour before blind embossing.

Anyway, he liked it, I think, I hope hehe. I got a little panda card, it's cute :3
I realised the other day that we tell each other "I love you" at least once a day, even when we've been arguing or something isn't going right.

So I wish you all love for today, relax, don't get too hyped up on this commercial holiday and love each other and everyone every day no matter what.
